Christ the King

My Dear St. Bernadette Family,

“Everyone who belongs to the truth listens to my voice.” This is Jesus’ answer to Pilate when asked if he is a king. As we pray for the kingdom of God to come on earth as it is in heaven, we must acknowledge that despite our prayers and efforts, the kingdom is still only partially here. The reign of Christ has not come to full flower on earth. The reason we are not successful might just be the lies, cover-ups, darkness that persists around us.

We have made progress in this year past. Various abuses have come into the light and so the truth is before our eyes. But the lies continue as resistance to the truth is strong for those still dwelling in darkness.

We must continue to advance the Kingdom of God through heroic service to Christ our light. We must do so at all levels, world, nation, church, community, parish and family. We begin with ourselves. Our daily examine must be a daily recommitment to the truth. Honesty before our God is the only path to allowing Christ to be our King.

With love,

Fr. Tom
