2nd Sunday of Easter

My Dear St. Bernadette Family,

Today has two titles, “Second Sunday of Easter” and “Divine Mercy Sunday.” Both help us to see how the effects of the Paschal Mystery continue far beyond Easter Sunday. In our church we need seven weeks of Easter to just lay the foundation of a life which celebrates Easter.

Divine Mercy Sunday reminds us that God is on our side. God wishes the very best for all of God’s creation and has given us the tools to make it happen. The Gospel speaks of the peace Christ offers to the Apostles immediately upon appearing to them following the Resurrection.

As we continue the season of Easter, may the new life of Christ be for you a source of great joy. May the gifts of God’s peace and mercy be both your gift received and given in the manor of your living. Let us pray that these two virtues become the way people relate and change the future of our world.

With Love,

Fr. Tom
